In the words of this mans daughter, I can put it no better… this man was amazing and full of courage to face life’s trials head on:

“he was the only son, had three sisters…he served a mission to south africa, was ‘adopted’ by a zulu tribal chief, was chased across a field by a rhino…served in the korean war, injured, kept on going, retired as a sgt. major, the highest rank for an enlisted soldier…he married my mom and they had three son & seven daughters, he worked hard so mom could stay home…got a double major while being a newlywed and new daddy and worked…he fought for my brother’s life for 8 years and then lost that son they fought so hard for…became a single parent when my mom was killed by a drunk driver, had almost no clue how to do it on his own while in recovery himself from that accident, but he did it, and somehow he managed to semi-fill her shoes as our cheerleader and support system…he started a drop-out prevention program at his high school and fought for kids that society had thrown away and got them graduating with great gpa’s…his life had so many trials and he didn’t complain, he just took care of business…he never missed any of my concerts, even when i was an adult, he’d drive 4 hours to see me perform…he wasn’t embarrassed to buy pads or tampons for his daughters (lol)… he was just a great man who overcame a lot and who lived for his family. he fought so hard at the end to stay with us, until Heavenly Father and us told him it was okay to go be with mom. he wasn’t perfect, but he’s my hero and i couldn’t have asked for a better grandpa for my daughters. i am his 3rd daughter, 5th child…that’s how he introduced me, we all have our numbers…i am 3 and 5. he’s just courage. faced the world and never shirked.” — Connie
