Eve Series: #1 – Be Still

I experimented this weekend w/ mixing realism w/ abstract. For a long time now I’ve wanted to do an ‘Eve Series’ that portrayed the beauty of women. All of us women originated from “the perfect” woman = Eve. Deep down we all desire to “be perfect”, “be free”, be all powerful & ‘magical’, when in fact we already are, because each of us is a part of Eve. :) Let me know what you think! If you have any ideas for future Eve paintings, let me know your thoughts in a comment below…

Irene

Today has been one of those days. Not feeling well, but something inside me craved to be creative. Problem is, I didn’t know what to paint. I have a long ‘to-do’  list, but nothing on that list seemed appealing to spread out on the canvas and bring to life. I didn’t feel 100% confident to do any of those ideas.

What has been heavy on my mind is Hurricane Irene. Not only did the East Coast get smacked with a 5.9 Earthquake only a few days ago, but now they are going to be hit by a Category 4 Hurricane tomorrow. WOW.  So this is what I whipped up tonight. I do hope everyone is prepared and in a safe place. I wish for the best, that everyone will be OK:

Resisting The Urge

“Enduring to the end is not just a matter of passively tolerating life’s difficult circumstances or ‘hanging in there.’ Ours is an active religion, helping God’s children along the strait and narrow path to develop their full potential during this life and return to Him one day. Viewed from this perspective, enduring to the end is exalting and glorious, not grim and gloomy. This is a joyful religion, one of hope, strength, and deliverance. ‘Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy’ (2 Nephi 2:25).

“Enduring to the end is a process filling every minute of our life, every hour, every day, from sunrise to sunrise. It is accomplished through personal discipline following the commandments of God.”

- Dieter F. Uchtdorf

She is Free

I was hoping to produce a video of me painting this, but somehow the recording got corrupted. Anyways, next best thing – share the music with the finished piece :) These songs pretty much speak for themselves for the inspiration of this painting. For me, it’s about a huge leap of faith – doing what you need to do to be your best self. And, finally, finding yourself and healing by love. It’s all about true & pure love to reach “the other shore”.

Free in life, free to find herself, free to find beauty in her world…

I am SO happy with how it turned out! :) Enjoy!
